Privacy Policy

What’s with this Site?

Career Nomad is my biz and also the name of my Website. It’s just me, myself and I.

Your information is valuable and I want you to know that I’m doing everything I can to keep it safe, secure and private. That means no selling, renting or trading your info with other businesses or companies for marketing purposes. I like to know that my own data is safe, and I’d like the same for you, too!

Below, you’ll find the details about what I collect, why I collect it and how I keep your info safe. I’ll change it from time to time, but the bottom line is that I have every intention of keeping your data as secure as can be and treat it as valuable as if it were my own.

Data I collect and Why

There’s two basic types of data that I collect from you: 1) Information you explicitly provide – and – 2) Automated Data

**** 1. Information you explicitly provide ****

This is the data that you write down and send/submit to me, my Website or 3rd party applications that make your experience way better.

Here’s the breakdown of when this comes into play:

Mailing List

Have you signed up for my newsletter? It’s awesome. You might like it. When you sign up for my mailing list, I collect your name and email address to email you great content and notification of services you might find interesting.

I use the 3rd party application MailChimp to send you all this info. MailChimp tracks what emails you’ve received and which ones you’ve opened. It also stores when you signed up and where (state and country) You can find more info about their privacy policy here

I use a double opt-in approach, so before you get added to my mailing list, you’ll get an email asking you if you really, really want to be on my list. If you do nothing, then you won’t be added. You have the power, so there’s never any surprises.

I love receiving comments from you about any content on my website. But I want to make sure you’re comfortable doing it. If you’ve set up your email address with Gravatar, the profile picture you set up will be shown next to your comment. This Website also uses cookies (pretty standard), so you don’t have to keep verifying your email address. See below for my Cookie policy.
Your name and comments are viewable to the public, but NOT your email address.

Contacting me

Sending me email through my contact form or directly via email? Any info you provide will go to me alone. I store the info indefinitely (until you tell me not to) so I can keep track of our continued conversation.

I use Acuity Scheduling to schedule appointments with you. The basic data I collect from you is your name, email address, and phone number or SkypeID. I use this info so I can contact you.
Depending on the type of appointment we have, I may ask you for more information to personalize the coaching experience. You’re free to add as much or as little as you want. All that info stays with me and with Acuity Scheduling. You can read about their policy here.

I use Square and Paypal to accept payments for services. I don’t see any of the info that you share with these sites. I only see that you’ve paid. Want to know how they use your info? Check out Square’s privacy policy here and Paypal’s privacy policy here

Client Agreements

If you decide to work with me, I’ll send you a client agreement through SignNow. SignNow will use your name and email address to send you a document that you can sign right on their site. If you prefer to not use SignNow, I can directly send you a client agreement that you can sign, scan and email back to me. You can see SignNow’s privacy policy here.

I take notes during our sessions to keep track of our progress. Notes are kept on Evernote and Google Docs and are kept private so only I can see them. Evernote’s policy is here. Google’s privacy policy is here.

Other Websites

Every now and then, I’ll put up a link that’ll go to a different website. If you decide to follow the link, you’ll leave my Website and will now be protected under their Privacy Policy. Check their policies if you’re concerned about how your information will be used.

*** 2. Automated Data ***

This is the information that gets collected as you browse websites. This includes your IP address, and the time and date when a site was accessed.

Like most websites, my Website uses cookies to collect general information about you. Cookies are small data files which are placed on your computer or other devices (such as smart ‘phones or ‘tablets’) as you browse this website. They are used to ‘remember’ when your computer or device accesses my Website.
These cookies are NOT used to record information on your name, address or other contact details. Their function is for statistical purposes and to track traffic patterns.
That said, you have the option to disable cookies on your browser and still use my Website. Totally up to you.

Google Analytics

When you visit my Website, I use a third-party service, Google Analytics, to collect your regular standard internet log information and details of visitor behavior patterns. I do this so I can see how many visitors visit different parts of my Website and see what content visitors like to see.
This process does NOT identify anyone. I also don’t make, and do not allow Google to make, any attempt to find out the identities of anyone visiting my Website.

Other Information

Sharing Information with Third Parties

All 3rd party applications that I use are listed above. I don’t share your data with any other 3rd party application.

How long do I keep your data?

For data that I have control over (name, email address, comments, emails, signed agreements, session notes, etc), I generally keep them indefinitely until you tell me to delete the info. All other data shared by 3rd parties will be kept for as long as the application is needed. For instance, if you choose to unsubscribe from my list, your information will be removed from MailChimp.

Access to your Personal Information

Your data is yours. You have a right to view, change, or delete any personal information that I have. If you want me to make any changes regarding your data, then reach out to me at [email protected]

Children & Privacy

The occasional grown-up curse word does tend to pop up now and then. So, children under 13 need to get permission from their parents and legal guardians to opt-in to the list and view this Website. That said, this Website is geared towards working 9-to-5ers, so hopefully, no children actually fall into that category and find any of the content relevant.

What if a data breach happens?

I’m keeping your data as safe as I possibly can. But in the crazy event of a data breach, I will notify you if your data has been compromised and will let you know what you need to do to protect yourself.
